This listing is for a set of 5 hand painted signed butter pats. I could not find a reference for the "Purdy" or "Purddy" signature on the backside, so I am assuming that it is the painter's name. The signature is a little different on all butter pats. These Butter Pats are not made of fine China, nor are they very old majolica. I believe they are from the 50's or 60's and were painted blanks or poured and painted by the maker. They feel like a paste type of ceramic.
They are in excellent condition and are so cute. My mother was a potter, and I have a pretty good idea of what period pottery comes from. We collect it all. =) check out our Vintage section here at MountainsideGoods, we are adding all the time.
Vintage Pansy Butter Pats:
Are in a shape of a pansy flower
Measure about 3.5 inches across.
There are no chips or cracks on any of them.
They would be an excellent addition to anyone's butter pat collection.
